Role Overview:
The Head of Data and Insights for APAC will lead the strategic direction and operational management of data/insight function for our combined One APAC business (i.e. C&S and Retail markets). The role will be pivotal in establishing and maintaining robust data quality, data governance, shaping the data strategy, driving insightful reporting, spearheading data-driven initiatives and delivering critical business insights. This position will collaborate closely with country leaders, regional stakeholders and teams involved in data across the GRS/LII to ensure alignment and consistency in approach across the organisation.
Role Responsibilities:
Data Strategy and Data Governance:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organisation's broader GRS/LII and One APAC strategic objectives and supports business growth in the APAC region.
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks and standards to ensure data integrity, privacy, and security in all our jurisdictions and regulatory environments.
- Drive initiatives to enhance data quality and accessibility across the region.
Data Quality Management:
- Oversee data quality processes and practices to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely data across all business functions.
- Implement quality control measures and audits to continuously improve data accuracy.
Insights and Reporting
- Lead the development of analytical frameworks and reporting tools that provide actionable insights for functions and products across the enterprise
- Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that support informed decision-making.
- Work closely with Technology team to leverage the latest technologies to provide market leading insights that can help APAC differentiate within their market
- Drive standardisation across the wider GRS/LII group where possible
- Support delivery and alignment to GRS/LII data and insight initiatives
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary data liaison with the LII APAC COO and other senior stakeholders including Technology to understand business needs and ensure alignment with data initiatives.
- Engage with the business community to gather insights and feedback, ensuring data tools and reports meet their requirements.
Collaboration and Alignment:
- Work closely with the country leaders, product and functional heads (LII Head of Data, LII Head of MI) to ensure regional strategies are aligned with global objectives.
- Participate in global forums and initiatives to share regional insights and contribute to the wider organisation's data strategy and best practice identification.
- Acting as an integrated business unit (IBU) partner with Technology to deliver accurate and high-performance data solutions. Act as a key stakeholder and help drive timely delivery.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead a geographically and culturally diverse data and insights team, building a high-performing culture, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional growth.

Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent business experience.
- Extensive experience in data management, analytics, and strategy within the insurance industry, preferably in a commercial and retail setting.
- Experience of large-scale business transformation
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence and drive change across diverse cultures and geographically dispersed leadership, stakeholders and direct team.
- Strong analytical skills with a track record of delivering data-driven insights and reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices, ideally within multiple markets.
- Experience working in or with the Asia Pacific market is highly desirable.
