Assistant, Product-Motor UW (12 months contract)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant to join our Product Motor Underwriting Team. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the team with data analysis, data-related operational support (e.g. pricing, renewal), and market research related to motor insurance products. The ideal candidate will have excellent proficiency in Excel, basic knowledge of SQL, and the ability to conduct comprehensive market research to provide insights that aid product development, underwriting and pricing strategies & execution.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Collect, organize, and analyze motor insurance data to support underwriting activities.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) to manipulate large datasets and generate meaningful reports.
  • Write and run basic SQL queries to retrieve relevant data from databases as needed.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, product managers, and IT teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Support data preparation supporting pricing and renewal operation under guidance of Pricing & Analytics Manager on
  • Conduct market research on competitors, industry trends, customer preferences, and regulatory changes affecting motor insurance products.
  • Synthesize market data and provide actionable insights and recommendations to the underwriting and product teams.
  • Assist in preparing data and market research presentations and reports.
  • Identify data trends, anomalies, and insights that support product improvements and risk assessment.
  • Support the documentation of data analysis and market research processes and findings.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis and market research tasks as requested by the team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Statistics, Marketing, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data analysis and market research, preferably within insurance or financial services.
  • Strong command in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and basic macro creation.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL for data querying and manipulation. Any knowledge with other programmatic languages (e.g. VBA, Python) would be a plus
  • Ability to design and conduct market research, analyze competitive landscape, and interpret industry trends.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills to present data and research findings clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
